Was given the chance to develop the key visual + art direction of the first ever Southeast Asian Games Showcase (or SEAGS), an online showcase event at Summer Games Fest, meant to platform and champion game developers and studios in and from the region.

For the first edition, I wanted to invoke imagery familiar to us Southeast Asians: the night market! Bustling with bootlegs, handcrafted goods, and delicious street food - all basking under the glow of neon lights. I can’t think of much else that captures both the chaos and the care we see in the streets of our beloved tropics.
To populate this night market, I came up with the idea of market sprites, mischevious little creatures who pop up when things have already closed shop. They play the central role in the introductory video of the showcase, which was a lot of fun to animate.
Some design development explorations below, including the storyboard to the intro video!
