Greenhills is known for being home to the niche and nerdy, like hobby shops, climbing gyms, and arcades. Bustling with bootlegs, handcrafted goods, and delicious street food - all basking under the glow of neon lights. I can’t think of much else that captures both the chaos and the care we see in the streets of our beloved tropics. To populate this night market, I came up with the idea of market sprites, mischevious little creatures who pop up when things have already closed shop. They play the central role in the introductory video of the showcase, which was a lot of fun to animate. In an effort to promote his music more in the Southeast Asian region, a number of artists and animators (including me!) jumped in to create their own unique takes of the song. The song felt very nostalgic and dream-like, so I had the idea of mixing old, archival home videos with collage/magazine cutouts for a hazy, grungy trip down memory lane. It was a lot of fun stretching and experimenting in a different style that I’m used to - and I’m very happy to share this result!
